Public-see

I just love how people can be contridictory…especially when it makes them look really stupid. Consider this report about the University Police Department using The Facebook to catch students photographing themselves illegally drinking beer, doing drugs, etc. I think Steven Colbert said it best:

“Most of us will ”gladly” give out our name and phone number to get a Petco discount card.”

I find it funny how people complain about the government spying on everyone and yet, all of this information can be taken from the facebook, or your AIM profile, or give you an application to get 10% off at your local bookstore.

Don’t get me wrong: I’m not in favor of government spying. But why complain about the police looking into people’s profiles? You put it out there! If you don’t want people to know, then don’t make it available where someone with a fake e-mail address can come find you.

I just love how these same people make it easy for some lunitic classmate to stalk them. I mean, people put of their schedules, who their friends are, who their boyfriend/girlfriend is…I mean, you can not only stalk but also just steal identies and run up credit cards…also you can say that you have 1,000 friends linked.

So, let’s not say we want “privacy.” Let’s say that we’re willing to give up our information in exchange to look popular, cool, or get 10% off. Whichever comes first.
