My parents weren’t rich growing up. In fact, we lived in poverty. Things are different now, of course, but they made it through without government help because, quite frankly, they didn’t know who to ask or what was available.
They didn’t take food stamps, or WIC, or anything like that. They just worked hard to raise my sister and me. Save as much money as they could, bought a house in the suburbs, and sent us to college.
This is the American dream that I know. You come from nothing and raise a family.
I don’t understand why people see the government as someone to take care of them. My parents didn’t have to get help from the government. Why should anyone else?

The lawsuit brought against CA when voters approved a constitutional amendment should have been thrown out on it’s merits. But the court took it the case and finally ruled on it today. (Full opinion)
Despite what you’ll hear from either the libs or the conservatives, the case is about the constitutional right of the people amending their own constitution. It was not about gay marriage.
The court decision to uphold the initiative is the correct one. The court, ruling 6-1, said:
In a sense, petitioners’ and the attorney general’s complaint is that it is just too easy to amend the California Constitution through the initiative process. But it is not a proper function of this court to curtail that process; we are constitutionally bound to uphold it.
This brings integrety to the constitution. It means that any measure approved by the people would be amended as voted.
Consider the opposite: let’s say that the court ruled that the constition cannot be ammended by the people. Prop 8 is void. So what if the LGBT community wanted to pass an amendment saying that marriage is for anyone and everyone? Because the court ruled that amendments by the people must first be approved by the court, people can say that amendment isn’t really the will of the people, fosters racism, insensitivity, etc.
This was a good decision not because it protects marriage, but because it protects the constitution of California.

The public school system in America has been graded to one of the worst in the world. The average high school student can’t tell you who the last 4 presidents were but can tell you who won American Idol in the last 4 years. Most students don’t understand or have a desire to read literature. Shakespeare, for most students, is something that they read once and forget. Spelling and grammar have gotten so poor that it must be taught in college.
But the one thing that American students know more than any other country is how to put a condom on. They can tell you the difference between an STD and a blister. They can’t tell you how many amendments the Constitution but they have no problem telling you that having safe sex is better than no sex.
I grew up in the public school system. They taught me math, science, some grammar, very little history. But where they didn’t skimp was the sex-ed. I always thought that public education was free from politics but I realized way too late that I was wrong.
The government has a vested interested in the education of the youth. Afterall, these are the people who will one day be the leaders of our nation. But why in the world does little Timmy need to know where his penis goes?!
The reason why abstinence-only sex education doesn’t work is not because of it’s perceived morality. Frankly, I don’t understand the morality behind it. Abstinence just makes common sense. If you don’t have the means to support a baby, then don’t have sex! You can have all the protection in the world. You can even get a vasectomy but there is still a chance that you can get pregnant.
Teachers that teach abstinence-only teach it like it’s something you don’t really want. They tell you what sex is, how it “benefits” a relationship, why it’s natural…and then they tell kids, “Oh, but you should only have sex when you’re ready.”
I don’t understand how we allow teenagers who are still understanding who they are and don’t know the full extent of the consequences of their actions to do some stupid things. Not only do allow them to do stupid things, we actually teach them to do stupid things. “Sure, go to an unsupervised party. Stay up all night! Touch the cornballer!”
I wish more parents today became an active participant in their children’s lives. Not to the point of becoming a helicopter parent, but enough where they know what’s going on in their kids lives.
The only 100% way of not getting pregnant or getting an STD is by staying abstinent. Period.

What Obama isn’t telling you is that there are many Americans that not only hates what he’s doing, but also abhors what is happening with the moral integrity of this country. It was We the People who fought Britain, not a politician. It was We the People that is supposed to control the country, not a politician. And it continues to be We the People who the government is to fear.
Sadly, this is no longer the case. Politicians stay in power because they have too much power. Much like King George to say the least. Even impeachment is impossible due to partisanship. Consider the Clinton impeachment. Passed the Republican-controlled house. Died in the democrat-controlled senate.
Many of the Obama-bots want a more liberal government, who provides health care for all, yet doesn’t want to pay for it. Yet many of these robots don’t realize is that the money comes from those snooty rich republicans they all hate. So here’s my idea: Let’s leave.
That’s right. I’m calling on a full-fledged sucession from the United States.
And no, I’m not kidding.
Think about it…it’s a win-win for both sides. The liberals get all the free health care they want. I don’t know how it’s going to be funded. Frankly, I could careless. They can have abortions, teach sex ed in school while failing to teach history. The conservatives will have low taxes, small government, no abortions…you get the picture.
I’ll tell you right now why politicans won’t support this: it puts power back to the people. It takes away their cushy jobs. And the federal government would lose a whole lot of money. Because when push comes to shove, most people are very conservative with their money. Most people will vote with their dollars even if they contradict it with their votes.
I would like to see the United States split into two. I don’t think we need a civil war. Quite frankly, I don’t think the liberals would have a standing chance since conservatives have more guns and ammo. And many more of them are stocking up.
But until this happens, we’ll have to try to make due with what we have. Take a look at my last article: My 3-2-1 Plan
Due to an unknown security vulnerability, mikesoh.com was down for about 14 hours. Feeds were unaffected and I haven’t seen any real damage to the site. My sister site was not affected at all.
I’m still sorting out the details of the hack but what I’ve gathered so far is that the hacker was able to overwrite the theme I have selected. I believe that this is a wordpress vulnerability, but I’m looking into the posibility that it may not be.
After a quick search, another site was hit with the same exact hack. He is also using WordPress, but he also uses the same hosting service.
